U.S. market indexes continued gains Tuesday with large-cap indexes posting a second consecutive positive close. Investors awaited midterm election results and the end of the Federal Reserve’s November monetary policy meeting. There were no major reports on the economic calendar. The Treasury held auctions for four-week bills, 52-week bills and 10-year notes at the following rates: four-week, 2.200%; 52-week, 2.645%; 10-year note, 3.209%.
In the S&P 500, materials and industrials led gains. On the earnings calendar, Vericel (NASDAQ:VCEL) and OnDeck (NYSE:ONDK) led gains. Vericel reported an earnings beat of 9 cents with a gain of 44%. OnDeck reported a beat of 6 cents with a gain of 32%.
