New Dow member Dow's stock gains premarket, as does old Dow member DowDuPont shares

Shares of new Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.15% member Dow Inc. DOW, +1.63% which will trade under the ticker symbol “DOW,” are trading up 0.8% in premarket trade Tuesday, after the materials science company was spun off from previous Dow component DowDuPont Inc. DWDP, +2.36% The spinoff was effective as of 5 p.m. Eastern on April 1. The change won’t affect how the Dow industrials’ price is calculated too much, since Dow’s stock enters at nearly the same price as the closing price of DowDuPont’s stock of $54.42 on Monday. DowDuPont’s stock, which is now priced at $36.59, according to FactSet, or below the pre-spinoff price of $54.42 as of Monday’s close; it rose 0.9% in premarket trade. Dow futures YMM9, -0.10% rose 4 points ahead of the open.
