Markets were highly volatile in the morning deals on Monday.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 40,330 levels with 10 of the 30 stocks listed on the index were trading in the red. YES Bank, up 2.7 per cent, was the top gainer, while TCS was the top laggard, down 0.85 per cent.
On NSE, the Nifty50 was testing 11,900-mark.
Sectorally, indices were trading mixed in the morning deals. Nifty PSU Bank index, up 0.85 per cent, was the top performer at the NSE. On the downside, Nifty IT index was trading 0.5 per cent lower.
The broader markets were outperforming the benchmark in the early trade. The S&P BSE mid-cap index was trading 0.58 per cent hugher, while the S&P BSE small-cap index was up 0.16 per cent.
Adani Ports, Britannia Industries, and Hindalco Industries are among the 272 companies scheduled to report their September quarter earnings today.
Shares of Ashok Leyland declined up to 7.2 per cent to Rs 71 in the morning deals on the NSE on Monday after the company reported weak September quarter earnings. The Commercial Vehicle major logged a 97 per cent drop in standalone profit before tax at Rs 19.11 crore during Q2FY20, as compared to Rs 670.8 crore during same quarter last year. READ MORE
Shares of Amara Raja Batteries surged 7 per cent to Rs 699 on the BSE on Monday, after the company reported 370 bps improvement in EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) margin at 17.2 per cent in the September 2019 quarter (Q2FY20) on account of softer commodity prices.
