News media speculation about Jeb Bush running for president is reaching a fever pitch and this weekend he added his own fuel.
Bush told a Miami TV station that he is writing an e-book that will be guided by emails from his tenure as Florida governor. The Republican said he would release 250,000 emails — which was seen as a strong sign he’s prepared to launch a campaign and get ahead of the scrutiny that has already begun from reporters, opposition researchers and other Republican candidates.
“Part of serving or running, both of them, is transparency. So I’ll let people make up their mind,” Bush said during the interview with WPLG-Local 10.
The emails are already available through public records but Bush plans to make them all available electronically.
“I was digital before digital was cool. Now it’s commonplace,” said Bush, whose official portrait at the Capitol in Tallahassee shows a BlackBerry in the background.
Bush on Monday will deliver a commencement speech at the University of South Carolina.
