The Dow Jones Industrial Average is rallying Monday morning with shares of American Express and Microsoft delivering strong returns for the price-weighted average. Shares of American Express AXP, +3.15% and Microsoft MSFT, +2.23% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +1.20% is trading 348 points, or 1.3%, higher. American Express’s shares are up $3.09 (3.0%) while those of Microsoft are up $4.69, or 2.3%, combining for a roughly 51-point boost for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Visa V, +2.44%, UnitedHealth UNH, +2.36%, and McDonald’s MCD, +1.64%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.58-point swing.
