Behind negative returns for shares of 3M and Caterpillar, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Thursday morning. Shares of 3M MMM, -0.15% and Caterpillar CAT, +0.10% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, +0.87% was most recently trading 92 points lower (-0.3%). 3M’s shares are off $2.33, or 1.5%, while those of Caterpillar are off $1.65, or 1.4%, combining for a roughly 27-point drag on the Dow. Goldman Sachs GS, +0.29%, Walgreens Boots WBA, -0.06%, and UnitedHealth UNH, +1.11% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components equates to a 6.78-point swing.
