Dragged down by declines for shares of Dow Inc. and Caterpillar, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Friday afternoon. Shares of Dow Inc. DOW, -2.38% and Caterpillar CAT, -2.83% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -0.94% was most recently trading 278 points, or 0.9%, lower. Dow Inc.’s shares are off $1.37, or 2.8%, while those of Caterpillar have fallen $3.48, or 2.5%, combining for an approximately 33-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are 3M MMM, -1.73%, Boeing BA, -1.37%, and Goldman Sachs GS, -1.58%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.78-point swing.
