Dow Rises 322 Points Because There's Good News on the Shutdown, and Hope Over Trade

Zoom, Zoom. Stocks built on the morning’s momentum and continued to rise at midday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.3% while the S&P 500 was 1.1% higher. While a deal that could keep the government from shutting down again this weekend is nice, investors are most upbeat about U.S.-China tariff talks because trade has been the biggest overhang for the stock market.
