A total of six people were confirmed dead in a gunman’s overnight rampage through suburban Philadelphia’s Montgomery County, according to police.
Cops are searching for Bradley William Stone, 35. Everyone murdered is believed to be a family member of Stone, a Pennsburg, Pa. man, the Montgomery County District Attorney said in a statement.
Stone was thought to be holed up inside a Souderton home, but when police barged inside they found an injured teen, not the suspected triggerman.
The gunman was described as a white man standing 5-feet-10-inches tall, about 200 pounds, with closely cropped hair and a red beard. He’s known to use a cane or walker to get around, the DA’s office said.
“Stone may be wearing military fatigues, in either sand or green color,” the statement reads. “Stone should be considered armed and dangerous.”
A total of six people were found dead at three different locations, sparked by what cops declared a domestic situation, WPVI-TV reported.
The first killing happened just before 4 a.m. Monday at the Pheasant Run Apartments along Main St. in Lower Salford.
A woman there was found shot to death — and children may have witnessed the killing, neighbors told the ABC affiliate.
“I heard three or four gunshots. I heard the kids saying, ‘Mommy, no! Mommy, no!’” one neighbor told WPVI. “He (the suspect) kept saying ‘We gotta go, we gotta go.'”
The neighbor asked the man if everything was OK, but she “saw the kids and the kids’ father exiting the house and they didn’t have any coats on or anything,” the neighbor told the station. “They just had their pajamas on.
“He was like, ‘She’s hurt pretty bad, we gotta leave,'” she said.
The kids were later found safe a short distance away, the station reported. The woman was the man’s ex-wife, according to reports, and the estranged couple frequently argued over custody issues, neighbors said.
Just half an hour later, police responded to W. Fifth St. in Lansdale, where two more people were shot dead, reportedly at close range.
Two more people were found dead at a residence near the intersection of Franklin and Garfield Sts. in Souderton.
All three scenes are believed to be linked. It’s unclear where the sixth person was found dead.
A heavy police presence remains in the town, about 35 miles north of Philadelphia. A SWAT team has also responded to a street in nearby Pennsburg, though it’s unclear if authorities suspect the gunman may be in that area. Authorities said he is a military veteran, WPVI reported.
