The Dow Jones Industrial Average is rallying Friday afternoon with shares of Caterpillar and Dow Inc. leading the way for the index. Shares of Caterpillar CAT, +4.65% and Dow Inc. DOW, +4.92% have contributed about a quarter of the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +1.21% is trading 509 points higher (1.9%). Caterpillar’s shares have risen $7.46, or 6.1%, while those of Dow Inc. have climbed $2.69 (6.0%), combining for a roughly 69-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include 3M MMM, +3.80%, Goldman Sachs GS, +2.41%, and Apple Inc. AAPL, +2.66%. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components results in a 6.78-point swing.
